About

Peter Fischmann

For over 40 years I have been a Brisbane based street photographer.

My first inspiration was my Father who owned a 1930's Leica Rangefinder. What chance did I have.

Photographic giants like Paul Strand, Eugène Atget, Walker Evens, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander and William Eggleston inspired me

I have utilised their styles to try and capture in my own way the humanity that surround us in a respectful and engaging manner.

Over the years I have had many exhibitions both solo and group shows. My work can be found in the collections of institutions such as the Queensland Art Gallery and State Library of Queensland.
